High School Teacher-Health Technologies
My teaching experience included 31 years in a public school classroom in a high needs rural setting. I also worked as an adjunct teaching college biology, chemistry, and science method courses. In 2003 I received the NABT- New York State Outstanding Biology Teacher Award. I retired from public school education in June 2014 but I still maintain interest in several activities in education. I have a Bachelor’s in Biology and Master’s Degree in Science Education from SUNY Potsdam.
I utilized a mix of teaching styles which varied from class to class depending upon the needs of the class or the student. No two students are the same and it takes a different approach to reach each student. Structured note taking with bell ringers and closure activities, as well as group and laboratory work occurred frequently in my classes. I evaluated students frequently as research supports that short frequent evaluations help students to learn more proficiently. I also believe in the use of competitive academic games.
If your need is in the area of Biology (lower level and advanced including AP Biology), Chemistry, or Middle Level Earth or Physical Science, I have many materials in addition to advice that I can share with you to hopefully make your job easier and more productive,
